How to Participate in an Informational Interview

Now that you have your resume and know how to professionally greet somebody, it's time to set up an Informational Interview to learn more about a job/career you are interested in.

Directions:

  1. Walk through the "Participating in an Informational Interview" presentation below.
  2. Create a new Google Doc, title it "Informational Interview Prep," and share it with your teacher.
  3. In your "Informational Interview Prep" document, write the following:
                         a) Research notes on the job(s) you are having an informational interview about.
                         b) At least 10 questions to ask during the informational interview (based on the suggestions from this presentation).
                         c) A 2-sentence statement about why you are interested in this particular job/career.
          4.     Have a partner look over your "Informational Interview Prep" document to make sure it is complete.
          5.     Have your teacher check your "Informational Interview Prep" document for completion to receive basic credit.
